The APC Chris Nicol FOSS Prize recognises initiatives that are making it easy for people to start using free and open source software (FOSS). The prize will be awarded to a person or group doing extraordinary work to make FOSS accessible to ordinary computer users.
ICT policy generally covers three main areas: telecommunications (especially telephone communications), broadcasting (radio and TV) and the internet. It may be national, regional or international. Each level may have its own decision-making bodies, sometimes making different and even contradictory policies.
Two easily discernable ‘waves’ have been sweeping across the current of human history during recent times. They have set in motion, a train of changes that have already transformed the human society in ways that are nothing short of revolutionary. They are: (i) transition towards information society, and (ii) revolution in ICTs.

There was a call for Speed Sharers from the organizers of Asia Commons Conference. Actually they wanted people from among the the participants to showcase their projects as collaborative models. Shikha, one of the organizers of the conference didn’t want to miss out Bytesforall from this session. The first thing she said to me when I saw her first in Bangkok was actually yelling that why I didn’t respond to the call and register myself for the session… However, she generously informed me that she has already registered me for the session…and there was no need to take my consent.
